Lessons from the Past, the Key to a Prosperous Future in the Middle East

This special session addresses the Middle East’s past, the state-of-the art, and the future of petroleum and energy development.  Based on the lessons learned from the hydrocarbon production of the past 100 years, the geological setting of the Arabian Plate, and the farsighted Arab nations, the Middle East may play a key role in the global energy transition, including the adaptation of renewable and reliable energy sources, natural hydrogen and carbon sequestration.

Securing the Future: Sustaining Groundwater Management in the Middle East

Groundwater resources in arid climates play a crucial role in society for the provision of freshwater especially in remote communities that lack infrastructure. Application of new technology and 4IR tools can be used to develop new methods to monitor and identify new and existing reservoirs and run more complex scenario-based forward models as additional variables can be added to the keep pace with the changing factors and future predictions.
